1. Company Identity and Data Controller

Binomugisha operates as a creative content production studio, handcrafted picture framing workshop, and web development practice headquartered in Kampala, Uganda. We act as the data controller for personal information collected through binomugisha.org, including our project inquiry forms, Studio Lab simulator, picture framing consultations, and direct client communications.

  • Physical Workshop and Office: Suite MCG 09, Mirage Complex, Port Bell Road, Kampala, Uganda
  • Customer Support Telephone: +256 756 180429
  • Official Inquiries Email: info@binomugisha.org

2. Personal Data We Collect and How We Collect It

We collect personal information solely when you voluntarily provide it through our website or when you interact with our tools and services:

  • Project Inquiries and Contact Forms: When you submit an inquiry through our website, we collect your name, email address, message subject, project description, and confirmation of consent to process your inquiry.
  • Custom Picture Framing Inquiries: When you request custom picture frames or gallery wall curation, we collect your name, phone or WhatsApp number, delivery address in Uganda, and requested specifications including frame moulding styles, matboard choices, dimensions, and artwork characteristics.
  • Studio Lab 3D Pre-Production Simulator: When you request a lighting and camera blueprint export, we collect your name, email address, 3D scene parameters (lighting positions, intensities, color temperatures, camera presets), optional mentorship interest, and optional marketing consent.
  • Direct Business Communications: We retain records of correspondence when you contact us via email, telephone, or WhatsApp to provide project estimates, technical support, or billing information.

3. Image Processing and Media Privacy Guarantee

We distinguish between interactive browser previews and custom production artwork:

  • Picture Frame Visualizer (Client-Side Ephemeral Preview): When you upload photographs or room wall images in our visualizer (binomugisha.org/frames), your images are processed entirely within local browser memory using temporary object URLs (URL.createObjectURL). They are never uploaded to our servers, never stored in any database, and permanently purged from memory as soon as you close or navigate away from the visualizer.
  • Customer-Provided Print Artwork (Printing and Framing Orders): When you voluntarily share high-resolution photos or artwork via WhatsApp or email for custom archival printing, those files are used strictly to manufacture your print and frame. They are never published, shared, or used for portfolio showcases without your explicit written consent.
  • Video and Photography Production Media: For our studio videography, photography, and livestreaming engagements, client footage, media rights, and model releases are handled securely under individual project contracts. Explicit consent is required before featuring identifiable individuals in our portfolio or promotional reels.

4. Studio Lab Blueprint Delivery and Marketing Consent Separation

We maintain strict separation between requested service deliverables and optional marketing communications:

  • Unconditional Blueprint Delivery: Generation and email delivery of your requested PDF lighting blueprint proceed unconditionally, regardless of whether you choose to subscribe to updates.
  • Optional Marketing Consent: If you choose to check the optional consent box below the email field, you consent to receiving occasional Studio Lab resources, creative tips, and studio updates.
  • Independent Mentorship Preference: Indicating interest in creative mentorship is tracked as an operational service preference and does not enroll you in marketing updates.
  • Right to Unsubscribe: Anyone who has opted into marketing updates may withdraw consent and unsubscribe at any time by emailing info@binomugisha.org or by using future unsubscribe links. Visitors who submitted blueprint requests prior to explicit consent capture are treated as unsubscribed.

5. Cookies, Local Storage, and Analytics Practices

We believe in transparent, consent-first technology:

  • Essential Local Storage: We do not store invasive tracking cookies. We use browser local storage solely to remember your consent preference under the key "cookie-consent" (recording either "accepted" or "rejected").
  • Current First-Party Analytics: Analytics measurement is completely disabled by default. No analytics records are created unless you explicitly choose "Accept analytics" on our cookie banner. When accepted, our first-party analytics system records page paths, referring domains, device categories, approximate country, and session durations. An IP-derived cryptographic hash is used to estimate unique sessions without storing raw IP addresses. We do not use third-party analytics cookies today.
  • Strict Separation of Analytics and Advertising Consent: Accepting website analytics applies exclusively to first-party traffic measurement and site improvement. It does not grant permission for personalized advertising, cross-site profiling, remarketing, or tracking across external platforms.
  • Google Business Profile and YouTube Shorts Campaign Visitors: Visitors who reach binomugisha.org through Google Business Profile links, Google Maps, or links in our YouTube Shorts promotional videos browse the site without tracking cookies or advertising profiles placed on their devices. If analytics are accepted, we measure only standard aggregate arrival referrers to evaluate campaign reach.
  • Future Advertising Measurement Disclosures: In preparation for future promotional campaigns, we may introduce Google Ads measurement to gauge campaign performance (such as counting inquiries resulting from YouTube Shorts). When deployed, these tools will operate strictly under Google Consent Mode v2 with advertising personalization disabled by default, requiring separate user consent prior to activation. Declining will never restrict access to any feature of our website.

6. Purposes and Legal Grounds for Processing

We process your personal information for specific, lawful purposes:

  • Fulfilling Orders and Service Contracts: Manufacturing custom picture frames, coordinating deliveries, producing video content, and engineering web applications.
  • Delivering Requested Digital Resources: Generating and delivering requested Studio Lab lighting diagrams and PDF blueprints.
  • Responding to Inquiries: Answering client inquiries, providing technical consultations, and preparing formal quotation slips.
  • System Security: Protecting our infrastructure, preventing spam, and enforcing rate limits.
  • Consensual Marketing: Sending occasional educational tips and studio updates only when you have provided explicit opt-in consent.

7. Data Retention Schedules

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to satisfy the purpose for which it was collected:

  • Website Inquiries: Retained in secure administrative databases for up to 24 months following your last communication to support ongoing project discussions, or deleted earlier upon verified request.
  • Studio Lab Exports and Marketing Consent Logs: Background job queue metadata is retained for 90 days to verify email blueprint delivery. Consent preference audit records (opt-in or opt-out status, timestamp, and wording version) are retained as long as necessary to honor your communication choices or until you request complete record erasure.
  • Visualizer Preview Images: Zero seconds retention (processed strictly in temporary browser RAM via URL.createObjectURL and permanently discarded upon navigating away).
  • Customer-Provided Print Artwork: Digital files sent for fine-art printing and framing are retained solely during production and for up to 30 days post-delivery to verify craftsmanship or reprints, after which they are permanently deleted.
  • First-Party Analytics: Page view records (featuring an IP-derived hash and session identifier) are retained in the local database for up to 12 months for statistical analysis and seasonal comparisons, then purged.

8. Third-Party Disclosures and Service Providers

We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal information with any third parties for commercial or marketing purposes. We share data only with essential service providers under strict confidentiality:

  • Delivery and Logistics: Verified local courier partners in Uganda solely to fulfill doorstep deliveries of handcrafted picture frames.
  • Transactional Email Services: Dedicated mail servers (Mailcow SMTP) to dispatch requested blueprints and customer notifications.
  • Legal Obligations: Where required by applicable laws or regulatory authorities in Uganda.

9. Data Security Safeguards

All traffic to binomugisha.org is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (HTTPS/SSL). Administrative portals and databases are secured behind role-based authentication, firewalls, and strict least-privilege access controls.

10. Your Privacy Rights and How to Exercise Them

Under applicable data protection laws, including the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019 and general international privacy principles, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete details.
  • Erasure: Request the deletion of your personal records where retention is no longer necessary.
  • Withdraw Consent for Analytics: Click "Privacy choices" in our site footer at any time to clear your stored choice and re-open the consent banner.
  • Withdraw Consent for Marketing: Email info@binomugisha.org to be removed immediately from marketing distribution.
